The BMW was allegedly being driven at over 120 kmph by 21-year-old Shanay Gajjar on a stretch where the speed limit is 80 kmph. Gajjar reportedly lost control of the vehicle, which broke through a barrier before plunging from the bridge.
Gajjar and two other students, 17-year-old Dhairya Sheth and 19-year-old Aditya Jakasania, died at Nair Hospital following the crash. Their friend, Aditya Oswal, remains in critical condition.
The crash has been reported as the sixth fatality on the new Coastal Road since 2024. Police are probing overspeeding as a factor in the accident and are pushing for better barriers and stronger enforcement.
